Obituary for Legolia Ann "Goldie" Griffin

Legolia Ann "Goldie" Griffin
Legolia Ann “Goldie” Griffin, daughter of the Clifton Wilson and Mildred Wise, was born on November 11, 1943 in Accomack County, Virginia. She was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by her cousin Legolia Gilbert and her Aunt Mable before returning to the Eastern Shore. Goldie quietly slipped away at sunrise on Sunday, June11, 2017 at her residence.

Goldie worked at Vankestern Farms, Byrd’s Food, Inc. and Taylor and Fulton, but her most important job and love was raising her children. She was happily married to Claude Franklin “Cookie” Griffin, Sr. until he went home to be with the Lord. Their union was blessed with five children, Andre “Dre,” Melissa “Lisa,” Claudia “Poot,” Claude, Jr. “Junie,” and Delsheta “Del” Griffin. Legolia was a loving mother and grandmother.

Goldie was a member of Macedonia AME Church in Accomac. She was a faithful member who sang on the choir and was a member of the Pastor’s Aide.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: her children, Andre (Sabrina), Melissa (Thomas), Claudia (Samuel), Claude, Jr., and Delsheta (Ray); four sisters, Virginia Bailey, Barbara Fosque, Sharone (Henry) Johnson, and Teresa Wise; three brothers, Robert Wilson, James Wilson, and Roy Wise, Jr.; eleven grandchildren, Matiya “Tia,” Tyshameka “Ty,” Shanika, Tralvis (Brittany), Shekena “Whitney,” Keon, Marcenold “Marc,” Delshawn “Shawn,” Angea, Nequa, and Mya; fourteen great-granchildren, Amarianna, Sanaii, Aluko, Jr., Ja’Naii, Nevaeh, Tralvis, Jr., Taleiyah, Ny’Aoni, Zy’Mani, ZaNiyah, Kaisen, Aiden, Bri’naja, and Sa’Miya; two sisters-in-law, Alice Weddington and Eorlene Hudson; three best friends, Dianne Boggs, Yvonne Holden, and Lou Floyd Warner; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins
