Walter Snead was born on August 25, 1952 in Wachapreague, Virginia, to the late Charlie and Margaret Snead. He departed this life on December 26, 2017 at his residence in Melfa, Virginia, after battling a long illness. Walter was surrounded by his loving family.
Walter attended the Accomack Public Schools. He enjoyed drawing, making jewelry boxes and glass work. He also enjoyed playing chess and cards with his family and friends. Walter worked as a carpenter with Ned Finney for eleven years, upon returning to the Eastern Shore from Galax, Virginia, where he resided for fifteen years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Snead; three brothers, Gilbert, Willie, and William Snead; one sister, Mary Matthews; and one brother-in-law, Hilton Upshur.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Malissa Mason and Margie Frances; one son, Telly Mason; two stepsons, Cardell Mason and Jakorah Parker; three grandsons, Marcus, Akeem, and Xavier Mason; one granddaughter, Takeyah Mason; two great-grandchildren, Jacari and La’Dahja Mason; two sisters, Margaret Upshur and Missouri (Clarence) Bland; one brother, Richard (Darlene) Snead; mother of his children, Lucille Mason; very special niece, Tammy Snead; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
