Evelyn Beatrice Crocker was born on September 10, 1927 in Accomack County, Virginia to the late Samuel James and Rosetta Savage Fletcher. God in his infinite wisdom saw that she was tired and called her to eternal glory on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
Evelyn was educated in the public schools of Accomack County, graduating from Mary N. Smith High School. She retired from Lenox China, in the quality control department, in 1996. Evelyn lived a full life in New York and Atlantic City. Her retirement years were spent at home, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Evelyn had a zest for life and lived it fully. She enjoyed being near and around her friends and family, whom span across many states. Evelyn never knew a stranger; her smile and hugs earned her the nickname, “Sugga.”
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Crocker; brothers, Dale Savage and Paul Fletcher; sister, Margret Bailey; brother in-law, Robert Bailey; and nephew, Ricky Bailey.
Left to cherish Evelyn’s memories are: her niece whom she raised as a daughter, Patricia Ann Byrd of Salisbury, MD; grandson, Brian Edward Townsend and Harold Cyr-Townsend; great-grandson, Tavon Cyr-Townsend, all of Salisbury, MD; great-nephews, Randall Byrd of Naples, FL and Lamont Byrd of Oakland, CA; cousins and best friends, Linda Simpkins, Delores Blackston, and Teresa Parker, Jackie Turner, Althea Thomas, Florence Hall, Sarah West, and Moses Simpkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
