Floretta Alieen "Sugar Pete & Ma Pete"  Cropper-Hicks
Floretta A. Cropper-Hicks, daughter of Helena Johnson and the late Welton Knox, was born on September 3, 1955 in Nassawadox, Virginia. She departed this life on July 10, 2018 at her residence in Horntown, Virginia.

Floretta was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a graduate of Mary N. Smith High School. In 1994, she began working at Quality Inn Suites and dedicated twenty years of service.

“Sugar Pete” or “Ma Pete,” as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Horntown, Virginia. In 2000, she married Ricky Hicks and they shared eighteen years together.

Floretta was preceded in death by her father, Welton Knox; son, Dennis Hicks; grandsons, Brent Faber; and siblings, Raymond Cropper, Justina Cropper, and Virginia Taylor;

She leaves to cherish loving memories: her husband, Ricky Hicks; three daughters, Erica Cropper of Magnolia, DE, Arvonia (Angelo) Heath of Salisbury, MD, and Raahkema Cropper of Horntown, VA; three sons, Ricky (Ashley) Hicks, Sylvester (Talishia) Hicks, both of Slaughterneck, DE, and Keann Harris of Killeen, TX; twenty-seven grandchildren, Darnee Cropper, Imani Cropper, Dymon Waters, LaTisha Taylor, Ryshaun Taylor, CorRay (Tyneisha) Heath, Angelo Blango, Alexis Heath, Taavon Fisher, Jalen Burton, Zhane Burton, Rikira Dukes, Rikiya Dukes, Zalaiyah Cooper, Tarone Matthews, Jemerie Perry, Nyjere Smith, Madison Bellamy-Hicks, Morgan Bellamy-Hicks, M’Kiyah Bellamy-Hicks, M’Liyah Bellamy-Hicks, Zyair Hicks, Malaya Hicks, Keon Shay Trotter, Carletra Suggs, Fabian Harris, and Charlize Harris; fourteen great-grandchildren; mother, Helena Johnson of Horntown, VA; eleven siblings, Gary (Debbie) Cropper of Millsboro, DE, Lamonty Johnson, Tusserine Cropper, both of Wattsville, VA, Karmitia Lewis of Horntown, VA, Fannie (Larry) Giddens, Thelma (Wayne) Knox Rogers, Renee Knox, David (Tara) Knox, all of Wattsville, VA, Welton Knox, Jr. of Horntown, VA, Tammy (Harry) Kellam of Westover, MD, and Joe Ellen (Willie, Sr.) Stoveall of FL; two special friends, Patricia Fletcher and Earline Drummond; Franklin Trader, who was a special father figure; and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, and friends.
