Carolyn Virginia Parks, daughter of the late James Dilday and Blanche Parks Dix, was born on June 21, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She spent most of her childhood in Parksley (Whitesville), Virginia and attended the public schools of Accomack County. Carolyn then relocated to Philadelphia and later moved to Lakewood, New Jersey, where she spent her adult life.

Carolyn was employed with Brockway Glass in Freehold, New Jersey for over twenty years, retiring in 1988 when the plant closed. Upon the closure of Brockway Glass, she began her new career as a CNA and was employed by The Grove and Jersey Shore Nursing Rehabilitation Center, retiring in 2003. Upon retirement, her daughter Kimberly moved her to Norfolk, Virginia where she lived until 2015 when she relocated to Elk Ridge, Maryland to be closer to her granddaughter, Natasha. In April of 2017, Carolyn decided that she wanted to relocate back to New Jersey to be closer to her daughter, Sheila and her wish was granted. She was relocated to Asbury Park, New Jersey where she lived with her daughter until her health began to decline and at that time, she was relocated to Manor by the Sea, an assisted living facility where she resided until her untimely death.
Carolyn loved her family and often spoke of her desire to see the family come together to celebrate a “Family Reunion.” On June 15, 2019, she was afforded that opportunity when her daughter, Sheila, hosted a “Surprise 80th Birthday celebration” for her at the assisted living facility where she was residing. Then, suddenly on Thursday, July 25, God softly whispered in her ear and said, “Well done Thou good and faithful servant, Thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make Thee ruler over many things - - enter Thou into the joy of the Lord.”
