Rosie Mae Reid, beloved daughter of the late John and Dorothy Reid, was born on October 24, 1959 in Melfa, Virginia. She departed this life on October 16, 2019 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

Rosie was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a 1978 graduate of Central High School, Home of the Bulldogs. She attended school in Salisbury to become a cosmetologist. Rosie also received her degree in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati.

Rosie was married to Jeffery Bailey and their union was blessed with two children, Jeffery and Shykinya. They shared twenty-six years of marriage until his passing on May 18, 2018. She and Jeff relocated to Ohio twenty-six years ago. Rosie was a staff director for the Cincinnati Black Theatre Company for six years. She also worked for the YWCA for twenty-two years.

Rosie loved her family and enjoyed returning home for the holidays. In her spare time, she loved to cook, read, complete cross word puzzles, and watch The Bold and the Beautiful and Lifetime.

Rosie leave to cherish her memory: two children, Jeffery Reid and Shykinya Bailey; two grandchildren, Milania Reid and Distance Madison Voes; one sister, Emma (Willie) Savage; six brothers, Claude (Toni) Reid, Larry (Brenda) Reid, John Reid, Tony (Viola) Reid, Timmy Reid, and Eddie (Wanda) Reid; mother-in-law, Jane S. Rosie was a very good friend to me, she was my grandson's teacher down at the YWCA. The last time I spoke with Rosie was when I was helping her get her 401k. Rosie told me that she was going home for two months and that she would call me when she returned. I just found out that she had died on Sunday, 1/5/2020 and I was so sad. RIP my Rosie. Love you
