Wallane Johnson, beloved daughter of the late Willie Younger and Julia Burton, was born on February 28, 1951. She was raised in Northampton County by Willie and Flossie Onley. She departed this life on October 20, 2019 at her daughter-in-law’s residence.

Wallane, affectionately known as “Wally,” was educated in the public schools of Northampton County. She worked in various industries throughout her life, until her health prevented her from doing so. In her later years, she joined the congregation at Gaskins Chapel AME Church in Savageville.

Wally was united in holy matrimony to the late David Johnson. In her leisure, she enjoyed going to yard sales, flower shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Holidays were her favorite because she loved to spend time with her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only son, Matthew Johnson.

Those left to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy are her daughter-in-law, Shelia Johnson; three grandchildren, Ashley Harmon, Matthew Johnson, and Joi Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Jr., Jamar Upshur, and King Johnson; Shelia’s siblings who were like grandchildren to Wally, Boot, Tina, Piggy, Marcus, and Shawn; four brothers; five sisters; her companion, Robert Poulson; special friends, Debbie Reid, Linda Hardly, and Doretha Harmon, who was like a sister; and a host of other relatives and friends.

I worked with Wally at the Eastern Short Yacht and Country Club when I was 17 years old. I remember she embraced me with open arms and treated me as a Son. This was my first job and she made me feel comfortable. I will never forget she used to chase me when I would call her by her Full Government name. I remembering seeing her just last year when I was home with her Daughter-In-Law, Shelia. She may be gone. BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. I will always remember Wallane Talley Rosten Johnson.

Love Always,
Quinton Washington
