Obituary

Lucy Mae Davis, the beloved daughter of the late Henry and Willie Mae Bailey, was born on May 4, 1937 in Davis Wharf, Virginia. She entered in eternal rest on October 29, 2019 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, Virginia.

At a very early age, Lucy accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a faithful member for many years and served as a Missionary and Deaconess.

Lucy enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to cook. She was known for her famous rice pudding and rolls. She was employed by the Accomack County Public Schools Food Service Department for many years until she retired.

Lucy was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Davis; two brothers, Ernest Heath and Richard Davis; and two sisters, Eva Davis and Gladys Fletcher.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories: five sons, Larry (Linda) Davis of Millsboro, DE, Clyde (Jacqueline) Davis of Hampton, VA, Henry (Sirthea) Davis of Melfa, VA, Tyrone Davis of Painter, VA, and Dean Davis of Nelsonia, VA; four daughters, Cynthia Purnell of Berlin, MD, Cindy (Dennis) Byrd of Parksley, VA, Claudine (Bennie) Smith of Pungoteague, VA, and Dannette Haggins of Fayetteville, NC; two stepdaughters, Louise Coston of Belle Haven, VA and Dorothy Dennis of West Palm Beach, FL; twenty grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bernice West of Millsboro, DE, Olese (Thomas) Johnson of Georgetown, DE, Eunice Lewis of Philadelphia, PA, and Violet Major of Painter, VA; a special daughter, Lou Ann Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
