Obituary

William Henry Ward, Sr. was born on November 7, 1944 in Northampton County, Virginia to the late Henry William Ward and Mary Kilmon Ward. Surrounded by his family, he departed this life at his home in Withams, Virginia on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the age of seventy-five, after a lingering illness.

William was educated in the Wicomico County School system. On January 17, 1973, he married Ethel Ward and they shared forty-six years of love. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. William loved to fish and hunt. He was truly a wonderful man and would help anyone in need.

In 1991, after working for twenty-one years, he retired from Perdue Farms in Accomac, Virginia. In his later years, he joined the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses and loved to go out in field service until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ward and Robert Ward.

William leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of forty-six years, Ethel Ward of Withams, VA; two daughters, Veronica (Linwood) Poulson and Vickie Poulson, both of Withams, VA; two sons, William Ward, Jr. of Withams, VA and Eric (Tammy) Ward of Nelsonia, VA; five grandchildren, Leshawn (India) Poulson, Breshell Morris, Eric Ward, Jr., Erika Bailey, and Manaisha Sullivan; three great-grandchildren, Dashawn Poulson, Kamari Poulson, and Morgan Evans; two brothers, Freddie (Minnie) Ward and David (Louise) Ward, both of Bloxom, VA; one sister, Clara (Billie) Taylor of Parksley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
