John Arther Bell, departed this life peacefully on May 24, 2020 at Heritage Hall in Franktown, Virginia. He was born to the late John and Odessa Stephenson on December 20, 1947.

John was educated in the North Carolina Public School System. He was united in holy matrimony to Peggy C. Bell and they shared fifty-two years.
John, when in better health enjoyed cutting grass in the community, making trips to the store, attending church, and watching Sanford and Son.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy C. Bell; brothers, James and Theodore Bell, Leon, Percell, and Joseph Stephenson; sisters, Teresa Jacobs and Carol Edwards; one granddaughter, Zeanna Pinkard; and one son-in-law, Maurice K. Purnell.
He leaves to mourn his loss: daughter, Mary Purnell of New Church, VA; two sons, Jonathan (Glenette) Bell of Baltimore, MD and Andre (Tammy) Bell of Salisbury, MD; two brothers, Curtis (Karen) Stephenson of Laurel, DE and Donald Stephenson of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Althea Stephenson of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Michelle Bell, Akeem Bell, Chas Holden, Raekwon Bell, D’naisha Jones, and Jonathan Bell, Jr.; three great-grandchildren who lit up his life, Trey, Malani, and Khiry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
