Very quietly and peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, a swift transition from this earthy life to receive a reward of a fuller life, Almighty God in his infinite wisdom gently closed the eyes of Mary Elizabeth Reed, as she entered into eternal rest. She was born on December 21, 1944 to the late Booker and Willie Mae Bull Reid in Nassawadox, Virginia. She was blessed with six beautiful children of which one son, Roland Reid, preceded her in death.

Mary attended the Accomack County Public Schools. At an early age, seeking the need for Christ, she was baptized and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Boston, Virginia. She attended church until her health began to decline.
Mary was employed by the Kellam Enterprise for many years. The Kellam family was her family as well.
“Myrrh Stump,” as she was affectionately called by her children, was a devoted mother who exhausted energy raising them. She possessed an affable and gentle personality, touched many lives with her keen wit, beautiful smile, great sense of humor, and her lucky charm. It was her generosity and concern for others that gained her respect and admiration from those who met her.
Mary will always be known for her jovial and loving spirit. Her home was the place for family gatherings, especially during the holidays. She had a passion for cooking, always at the stove to satisfy her family. Everything she cooked was made with much love. You could always get a pie, cake, rice pudding, or rolls, all you had to do was ask; she never said no to anyone. She loved her family more than words can say and will be sorely missed by all, especially her devoted children, Mickey, Gravie, Batman, Billy, and Diane.
Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Booker Reid, Jr., and 3 sisters, Virginia Parker, Barbara Williams, and Bessie James.
She leaves to cherish her lifetime legacy: four sons, Levin (Karen), Lenell (Debra), Connell (Michelle), and James (Tanya); one daughter, Diane Walker; thirteen grandchildren, LoKisha, Laneisha, Kimi, Shelia, Gwendolyn, Shanick, Kiasha, Antione, Fontae, Connell, Jr., Kentral, Kadeem, and Kwantrell; fourteen great-grandchildren; six great, great-grandchildren; one brother, Percy (Ilene); four sisters, Geneva, Lillie, Rose, and Carolyn; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
