Dianne Brown Dickerson, beloved daughter of the late John and Geraldine Allen, was born on January 10, 1952 in Melfa, Virginia. She departed this life on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, Virginia, after a brief illness.

Dianne was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools. Her commitment to provide for her family was evident in her work ethic. She was employed by Perdue Farms in Accomac, for twenty-nine years until her retirement in 2015. In 2016, she re-entered the workforce at Walmart, where she worked until her untimely illness.

Dianne was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Wachapreague. On October 18, 1996, she married Hillard Dickerson. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and devoted friend. Dianne possessed a nurturing spirit that many benefitted from. She was loved by all who encountered her.

Dianne was affectionately known by family and friends as “D-Baby” and as “Gramps” by her grandchildren. She enjoyed talking on the phone, joy riding, and watching TV, especially the soap operas. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She loved to prepare meals for them and they especially loved her sweet potato pies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evangelist Jeanette Parks.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her loving husband, Hillard Dickerson of Onancock, VA; five children, Rodney (Orchell) Brown of Greenbush, VA, Rhonda Brown of Onancock, VA, Rhashedia Brown (Derek) of Bloxom, VA, Rhasaan Brown, Sr. (Keisha) of Greenbush, VA, and Shekianna Corbin (Bryan) of Salisbury, MD; two sisters, Trina McLaughlin (Ceylon), whom she reared as her own, and Carolyn Brown, both of Parksley, VA; two brothers, Larry (Matilda) Brown of Belle Haven, VA and Craig Brown of Dover, DE; one uncle, Marcell “Jim” (Lois Anne) Gray of Melfa, VA; one aunt, Barbara Starchia of Washington, DC; eight grandsons, Germonte, Rykese, Calvonte’, Rashad, Rhasaan, Jr., Rajahn, Xavier, and Marquise; four granddaughters, Rya, Layla, Wykea, and Laniya; three great-grandchildren, Ashana, Symear, and Rakhi; one nephew, whom she cared for as a son, Nikko Brown; her loving dog, Torri; special friends, Margie Hill, Marva Stanley, and Debbie Simpkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Godspeed my friend. You were such an angel before you left this world. I will forever miss my friend and was soo looking forward to seeing her return to work with me. I cannot write enough words to describe this woman. She was truly special and such beautiful person.
To her family: I cannot take away the pain from your loss but remember Miss Diane and hold her tight in your heart. She would want you to rejoice that she is now with her maker. And she earned that spot!! May God continue to hold you tight and comfort each of you as you hold dear the many wonderful memories you have of her. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.
