Herbert Lee Anderson was born on August 12, 1953 to the late Booker and Virgie Anderson in Hopeton, Virginia at home. He was affectionately known as “Redboy” or “Redman.” He departed this life at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital on July 7, 2020.

Redboy began his education in Accomack County Public Schools and then later joined Job Corps. He entered the workforce driving trucks and doing side jobs. He was employed at Perdue before his retirement and entrance into part-time driving for Lilliston Seafood and self-employment.
Redboy loved his Dallas Cowboys, wife, children, westerns, and grandchildren (not necessarily in that order, LOL).
On November 22, 1986, he married Dianna Anderson, who preceded him in death in 2010. They shared twenty-four years of marriage and raised two beautiful daughters as well as other children.
Adams United Methodist Church in Parksley, Virginia was his home church. In later years, he joined Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Melfa, Virginia, where he sang on the Men’s Choir and served on various boards.
In his life he never met a stranger and made a friend everywhere he went. He was considered a father figure, a jokester, and referred to as “cool” by many of his daughters’ friends. In his leisure he loved to play bingo and go to the casino. His smiling face and loving spirit will be missed by all who loved him.
Redboy leaves to cherish his many loving memories: two daughters, Tayannia Ames of Hampton, VA and Nicole (Travis) Hickman of Melfa, VA; sisters, Vanessa (Jeff) Locklear of Onancock, VA and Marlene Chisum of NC; brothers, Warren Northam and Gayheart Northam; grandchildren, Xavier Williams, Nyla Hickman, Isaiah Nock, and Nicolas Hickman; special niece/goddaughter, Jada Locklear; special nephew, Jeffery Locklear; nieces, Felicia Northan of Seafood, DE, Tamesha Giddens of Suffolk, VA, and Monica Upshur of Norfolk, VA; nephew, Terrell Northam; godson, Sherwood Bailey, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Delois (Edward) Jacobs of Onancock, VA, Sharon McClinton of Newport News, VA, Helen Davis of Parksley, VA, and Laura Ames-Umphries of Melfa, VA; brother-in-law, George Ames of NC; “adopted” children, Latasha Matthews, Valecia Tyler, Tylecia Scarborough, and Brent Lilliston; special cousin, Kerwin Northan; dear friends, Jackie Godwin, Oscar Topping, Dewayne Hargis, Perry Bailey, and Darryl Lilliston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and too many friends to count or name.
