Elaine Bibbins Mears, beloved daughter of the late James Bibbins and Margaret Custis, was born on November 11, 1950 in Accomac, Virginia. On June 1, 2021, God in infinite wisdom called Elaine to rest with Him eternally at the Shore Health & Rehab Center in Parksley, Virginia.

Elaine was educated in the public schools of Accomack County, Virginia. She entered the workforce after high school and gained employment at Perdue Farms, where she dedicated thirty years of service. Elaine returned to school and earned a certificate to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. She later worked in the Food Service Department for Accomack County Public Schools; she also provided health care to patients in their homes.
Elaine was a dedicated member of St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church in Daugherty, Virginia. She served her Lord and Savior in spirit and truth, also in style. Elaine was always immaculately dressed whenever she entered to worship. She was a member of the choir, Usher Board, and Missionary Society. Elaine also sang with the Eastern Shore Choral Ensemble for many years.
On December 2, 2000, Elaine was joined in holy matrimony to Rev. Barry G. Mears. They shared twenty years of marital bliss. In her leisure, Elaine enjoyed cooking and making floral arrangements. Her specialties were sweet potato pies and cakes, especially coconut cake.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley; brothers, James and Calvin; and grandson, Kendrell White.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Rev. Barry G. Mears; sons, Larry Bibbins and Kendall Bibbins; two step-children, Marquette Wescott and Anthony Stevens; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara White (Rufus) and Joyce Bibbins; two brothers, James Otis Bibbins (April) and Jackie Williams (Arlene); brother-in-law, Ralph Mears (Gwen); three sisters-in-law, Lorrie Sharp (Anthony), Patsy Dix (Richard), and Annette Boone (Earl); aunt, Agnes Blake; special nieces, Tinya Bibbins, Tywanda Bibbins, Markeisha Matthews, and Jalecia Matthews; special nephews, Terrence Bibbins, Trequan Sample, Keyonte’ Bibbins, and Sevion Bibbins; special friends and devoted caregivers, Paul Hamilton, Robert Smith, and James Davis; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
